In Loving Memory of Grampa

We all received very sad news two weeks ago Sunday; my dad passed away unexpectedly. This photo was the last photo taken of my dad. I was packing our van the week after Christmas and our two-year-old brought a book to him and said, "you read this book to me?" Then he climbed on his lap without waiting for an answer. Shortly thereafter the other boys climbed up too. I am so grateful my mom took this photo. That he will be missed doesn't even begin to describe it.

As a random reader of your blog, I had wondered where you had been. I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. Pictures are priceless, what a great memory to have of your father. Look how your children hang on his words! That must be a bit of comfort at least. Gosh I feel your pain. Please tell me if I can help in any way.

What a special photo!

Words fail us. We hope you got the plant we sent to the ranch.

What was the book they were reading?

Thank you all for your kind comments, they are greatly appreciated.

Yes, J - thank you so much for the plant it did arrive and was beautiful. As for the book it was The Legend of the Indian Paintbrush, but that was third in a line of "I Love You As Much," "Noah's Ark," and one about the gift of St. Francis of Assisi (the manger scene).

I will treasure the photo always - as the boys will too I imagine.

Beautiful photo. It seems to reflect the relationship he must have had with his grandchildren well. He was a great man, Jenny. I'm glad you all have your faith to help you through this time, and know there are lots of prayers still being said for you all, and your mother too.

Geri and Christine,

We ALL appreciate your prayers, I know that we have been sustained by them as we move through both the "to-dos" and the grief.

I have to say I am forever grateful for the wonderful parents that God gave me. I trust He will heal my pain (in time) and deepen my faith and empathy.
