"How did it get in there in the first place?"

This morning I was reading through some blogs that I follow.  This post by my favorite author just made my morning.  It also helped me appreciate my own recent "deer-in-the-headlights" experience in a whole new way.

About a month ago, all three boys had asked to look at their baby books (that is not uncommon). While they were browsing through the pages, my seven-year-old looked up from the ultrasound photos and asked, "But how did the baby get IN there in the first place?"

Until today, I hadn't thought to appreciate the fact that we were at home when the question popped-up, AND that no other adults were present to witness my uh, "phenomenal handling" of the inquiry.

Next question, please!

Thank goodness we've only had to deal with the "how does the baby get out" questions. My 3 yo refuses to believe the true story. He is sure he came out the mouth. No doubts. Absolutely sure. Mommy threw him up.

Ah, see the "getting out" one is easy for me...because I ended up with four c-sections. They've seen the video of one of them. I have mentioned that isn't how ALL babies are born...but (so far) they seem most interested in their own exit strategy.

"Mommy threw him up!" Oh, Stormy, you almost made me spit my cookie into the already dirty keys of my laptop! :D That's hilarious!

I wish we could just say, "Next question, please!" but they are so hard to distract once they're on an answer-finding mission, aren't they?

Thanks for stopping by and letting me know you read Coop! I was so glad to read that- I truly loved it, and passed it on to my hubby who kept me awake with his chuckling in bed. I'm sorry about your father, but I'm so glad you have such great memories of him and the life he gave you! Pig's eyes, hmm? I think I like you!

Blessings!
