Can I get that in writing?

On the way home from swim last week our 5 1/2-year-old said from the backseat, "Mom, I'm not going to drive until I'm 30."

My response after laughing for several minutes, "Can I get that in writing?"

(I may actually ask him to write it out for me and date it, just so I can kid him about it when he's getting close to 16).

That is so cute!

And from the mom of a 16 year old driver; definitely get that in writing!

:o)

Tricia - you weren't the only one who echoed my thoughts...when I told my husband what our son had said (without telling him my own response) he said the EXACT same thing!!!

16? Law has either changed or is changing. 18 is the new legal driver age. Mackenzie is all happy because she is either the last or next to last year that a 16 year old can get a drivers license.

Actually I believe you're thinking about a legal driver vs. provisional. They have increased the restrictions on provisional drivers (under 18), but I haven't seen anything about an actual increase in the age limit. The under 18 age has been provisional for a number of years now.

Thank goodness I have about 11 years before I have to start thinking about it!

I found your blog while Googling the phrase "I'm not tired". I'm 32, single, have no kids - so surprisingly, I'm not tired! I just had to tell you, I checked out your blog for at least 30 minutes. You're doing a great job! Good for you for blogging wonderful memories! It's so refreshing to find parents who can find the humor in their kids. I might have to add it to my favorites list. If you don't mind, that is...

Hi Kate,

Thanks so much for your kind comments. I laughed at the "I'm not tired" google. I'm glad to get a google hit for something other than "what sound does a donkey make" (seriously in three years I've probably gotten a hundred hits from that!)

We're happy to be one of your favs :)
